A17 Frosted Case
About
Phone cases occupy awkward territory between necessity and nuisance. Protection matters, but most solutions compromise the careful industrial design that made the device appealing in the first place. Aulumu's A17 attempts to resolve this tension through materials and construction that complement rather than obscure the iPhone 17 Pro's form.
The shell employs two-layer IMD construction, a process that bonds graphics and textures beneath a scratch-resistant surface rather than applying them topically where they might wear away. The resulting frosted translucency allows the phone's own finish to remain partially visible while establishing distinct visual character. This approach acknowledges that cases need not disguise their hosts.
Machined aluminum surrounds the camera array and forms the button covers, introducing metal-to-metal contact that delivers satisfying tactile response with each press. These elements also provide structural reinforcement around vulnerable components while maintaining the precise tolerances necessary for smooth operation. The camera control button receives particular attention, with wraparound touch sensitivity preserved through careful cutout design that neither interferes with gesture input nor leaves the mechanism exposed to damage.
Edge protection extends around the perimeter with sufficient lip to keep the display elevated when placed face-down, while cutouts align precisely with speakers and ports. The frosted aesthetic reads as technical and contemporary, suited to those who view their devices as tools deserving thoughtful accessories rather than disposable commodities requiring only basic armor.
