Base Station
About
Nomad designed the Base Station as furniture rather than gadget, applying the material vocabulary of premium objects to the mundane task of device charging. Anodized aluminum forms the chassis, its matte finish resisting fingerprints while presenting the neutral tone that integrates with varied interior palettes. The surface accepts a padded leather charging pad, soft enough to receive devices gently while grippy enough to prevent sliding.
Two Qi charging positions occupy the leather surface, spaced to accommodate simultaneous phone and earbud case placement without overlap. Charging coils align with standard device positions, eliminating the hunt for the optimal placement that plagues less precisely engineered alternatives. Additional USB-C and USB-A ports line the back edge, providing wired options for devices that lack wireless capability or require faster charging than Qi delivers.
An ambient light sensor monitors environmental brightness, dimming the status LED automatically as room lighting fades. This intelligence eliminates the blue glow that disturbs sleep when chargers sit on nightstands, a consideration absent from most alternatives. The LED provides confirmation during device placement, then recedes into darkness as conditions warrant.
Every specification serves the goal of invisible reliability. The Base Station asks nothing of its users beyond occasional device placement, performing its function without demanding attention or adjustment. For those assembling workspaces and bedside tables with intention, it provides charging infrastructure at the quality level the surrounding objects deserve.
