Cleaver
About
Serene Industries machines the Cleaver from solid aluminum billet, a manufacturing approach that produces a keyboard chassis with the density and finish typically reserved for precision instruments. The result sits on a desk with presence, its weight communicating quality before fingers ever touch keycaps.
Inside the aluminum shell, a silicone core provides acoustic dampening and structural damping, transforming each keystroke into a muted, satisfying thock rather than the hollow clatter of plastic housings. The printed circuit board itself receives silicone potting, a protective encapsulation that guards electronics against dust, humidity, and the minor impacts of daily use.
Switch technology employs Hall Effect sensors, magnetic mechanisms that register keystrokes without physical contact between moving parts. This eliminates the wear that eventually degrades traditional mechanical switches, promising consistent actuation force for years. Hotswappable sockets allow switch replacement without soldering, enabling users to experiment with different typing feels or replace individual units should preferences change.
Keycaps are interchangeable, opening customization possibilities for those who want specific profiles, legends, or materials. RGB backlighting illuminates from beneath, its intensity and color adjustable to suit ambient conditions or aesthetic preference without overwhelming the keyboard's visual restraint.
Connection uses USB Type-C, the contemporary standard for durability and data transfer. Onboard controls handle adjustments without requiring software installation. Layout compatibility spans both Windows and Mac conventions, switching between them without hardware modification. This is a keyboard for those who type seriously and want their primary input device to reflect that commitment.
