Desk Shelf Cockpit
About
Raico designed this elevated platform to solve the persistent problem of monitor height while simultaneously reclaiming usable desktop territory. The construction relies on multi-ply birch sheets laminated under pressure, then finished with a matte coating that resists fingerprints and softens the visual impact of the wood grain. This material choice delivers rigidity without excessive weight, ensuring the shelf remains stable under loaded monitors and speaker pairs.
The geometry follows utilitarian logic with careful aesthetic consideration. Legs splay outward at angles calculated to maximize stability across uneven surfaces, while the upper deck spans wide enough to support displays up to 34 inches alongside desktop speakers or secondary devices. The cavity beneath provides clearance for keyboards, hard drives, notebooks, or charging stations, keeping these items accessible yet out of the primary sightline. Edges receive a gentle radius that removes sharpness without introducing excessive curvature, maintaining a professional silhouette.
Joinery relies on interlocking tabs rather than visible fasteners, resulting in a surface uninterrupted by screw heads or bolt patterns. Assembly requires no tools and disassembly proves equally simple for those who relocate frequently. The platform works in creative studios, home offices, and professional environments where visual consistency matters as much as functional performance. It transforms a cluttered desk into a command center where essential tools occupy their proper places.
