Fellow Ode Brew Grinder Gen 2
About
Fellow refined their filter coffee grinder with this second generation, addressing feedback from serious home brewers while maintaining the visual restraint that defined the original. The aluminum enclosure stands just 24 centimeters tall, presenting dark surfaces that absorb light rather than reflecting kitchen clutter. Panel seams align precisely, creating a monolithic appearance that belies the complexity within.
The grinding mechanism centers on 64mm flat burrs machined from hardened steel, mounted on a motor calibrated to spin at reduced RPMs. This slower rotation generates minimal heat during operation, preserving the volatile compounds that give specialty coffee its distinctive character. The particle distribution favors filter applications, producing consistent grounds that extract evenly across pour-over, AeroPress, Chemex, and immersion methods.
A substantial dial on the front face provides 31 distinct grind settings, each marked by a white index that travels across an engraved scale. The detents resist accidental movement while allowing intentional adjustment with satisfying tactile feedback. An ionization system within the grind chamber neutralizes static charge, preventing fines from adhering to surfaces and ensuring clean transfer to the magnetic catch cup.
At the end of each grinding cycle, an integrated knocker clears residual coffee from the chute, holding retention below one gram. Power wiring routes through a rear channel, leaving the grinder's profile uninterrupted by exposed cords. This is grinding infrastructure for people who treat coffee preparation as craft.
