Fire
About
Grau conceived Fire as a luminaire that transcends static illumination, introducing gentle movement into the quality of light itself. The lamp body unites machined aluminum with hand-blown glass, each glass element carrying the subtle irregularities that distinguish artisanal glasswork from industrial production. These variations interact with the internal light source to produce organic fluctuations reminiscent of candlelight, yet controlled through modern electronics.
The device offers multiple atmospheric modes, each choreographing light motion differently to suit the moment or mood. Intensity and color temperature respond to user input, allowing warm evening glow or brighter task-appropriate output as circumstances require. A double-click activates a 30-minute timer that gradually dims the light toward darkness, useful for bedside placement where sleep approaches but sudden blackness feels jarring.
Portability permits relocation between living room, dining table, and nightstand without dedicated fixtures or wiring considerations. The aluminum construction provides stability and thermal management while contributing to an object weight that feels substantial rather than cheap. Grau positions Fire as a companion to daily rhythms, responsive to the transitions between activity and rest that structure domestic life. In rooms where atmosphere matters as much as visibility, this lamp offers presence that adapts rather than merely persists.
