Joey Double Wall Ceramic Mugs
About
Fellow designed the Joey mug around a fundamental contradiction: a vessel must hold hot liquid without burning the hands that lift it. The solution employs double-wall ceramic construction, creating an insulating air pocket between inner and outer surfaces that maintains beverage temperature while keeping the exterior comfortable to touch. This thermal engineering eliminates the need for a protruding handle, allowing the form to achieve the pure cylindrical geometry that defines its visual identity.
The exterior surface receives a matte finish that feels soft against palms and provides secure grip. Inside, a glossy glaze creates a non-porous surface that resists staining and releases completely during washing, preventing the flavor ghosts that accumulate in unglazed ceramics. The wide opening serves multiple functions: it showcases the crema on espresso drinks, channels aromatics directly toward the nose, and simplifies cleaning.
At twelve ounces, the capacity accommodates pour-over preparations, flat whites with room for art, or substantial tea servings without the oversized dimensions that dwarf smaller beverages. A copper-toned metal band traces the base, adding a warm metallic note that references professional espresso equipment while protecting surfaces from heat transfer. The stackable profile conserves cabinet space, and the robust ceramic formulation survives daily dishwasher use without developing the hairline cracks that compromise lesser vessels.
Fellow built its reputation on tools that treat coffee preparation seriously, and the Joey extends that philosophy to the final moment of consumption. The mug sits comfortably in curated kitchen settings, its sculptural presence earning display space between uses while delivering genuine functional advantages when filled.
