About

Leica has manufactured rangefinder cameras in Germany since 1925, and the M11 continues this lineage while incorporating contemporary imaging capability. The brass top plate receives deep black paint applied over engravings unchanged from historical models, maintaining visual continuity with cameras that documented the twentieth century.

The full-frame sensor offers unprecedented flexibility through triple-resolution capture. Photographers select between 60, 36, or 18 megapixel output without cropping, adapting file size to assignment requirements. Higher resolution serves large prints and extensive cropping; lower settings accelerate workflow and conserve storage. Classic M-mount lenses render with their original character at any setting, preserving decades of optical investment.

Internal storage of 64 gigabytes provides backup redundancy when SD cards fail during critical work. The USB-C port concealed behind a side panel enables charging from portable batteries and rapid file transfer without card readers. Battery and memory card share a bottom-loading door, eliminating the traditional baseplate for faster field changes.

The rear display employs sapphire glass protection and 2.3 million dot resolution, extending nearly edge-to-edge while maintaining the body's geometric severity. Manual focusing through the rangefinder patch preserves the deliberate shooting rhythm that distinguishes M-system photography. No autofocus, no stabilization, no video capability. For photographers who consider these absences as features rather than limitations, the M11 provides contemporary resolution through an interface refined across a century of use.
