Ear (2)
About
With the Ear (2), Nothing continues its exploration of transparency as visual language. The polycarbonate stems act as display cases for the internal architecture, exposing the dual-chamber microphone system in full view. A small crimson indicator distinguishes right from left, while laser-etched branding across the housing reinforces the brand's typographic identity without overwhelming the composition.
Inside each shell, weighing just 4.5 grams, sits an 11.6 mm driver fitted with a graphene-coated diaphragm. This material choice balances rigidity with responsiveness, allowing for controlled bass extension and articulate highs. The active noise cancellation system operates through continuous environmental sampling, measuring ambient sound at a rate of 5,000 times per second to dynamically adjust filtering in real time.
Beyond the technical specifications, there is a deliberate restraint in how Nothing approaches the earbuds category. These are not hidden tools meant to disappear into the ear canal. They announce themselves quietly through material honesty, presenting their inner workings as something worth seeing. The result is an audio accessory that merges functional engineering with an almost architectural sensibility, treating internal components as decorative elements in their own right.
