Plinth Low
About
Audo Copenhagen designed the Plinth Low to operate across categorical boundaries, functioning simultaneously as coffee table, display surface, and sculptural element depending on context and arrangement. The extended horizontal proportions create generous surface area while maintaining a ground-hugging profile that avoids visual obstruction in seating arrangements.
Marble construction ensures each unit carries individual character through natural veining patterns formed over geological time. No two pieces replicate exactly, introducing organic variation into what might otherwise read as purely geometric form. The stone selection available through the collection spans warm and cool tonal ranges, accommodating diverse interior palettes.
Edge finishing receives careful attention during fabrication, with precision machining creating crisp profiles that emphasize the rectilinear silhouette. A recessed base produces a subtle shadow line beneath the visible surfaces, introducing apparent flotation that counterbalances the substantial material weight. This detail transforms what could feel heavy and imposing into something that sits more lightly within a space.
The surface accommodates art books, ceramic objects, plant arrangements, or beverage service with equal composure. Its proximity to floor level encourages informal use patterns, supporting the kind of living that happens low and comfortable rather than perched and formal. Audo created the Plinth Low for spaces where furniture serves aesthetic purposes beyond pure utility, where the objects surrounding daily life warrant platforms that honor rather than diminish their presence.
