Pro Display XDR
About
Professional imaging work requires a display that reveals truth rather than flattering interpretation. Apple developed this 32-inch panel specifically for color-critical workflows where deviation from reference standards creates downstream problems. The 6K Retina resolution delivers 218 pixels per inch, dense enough that individual pixels disappear at normal viewing distances while providing sufficient canvas for detail-intensive editing, compositing, and color grading.
Two glass surface options address different working environments. Standard glossy glass maximizes contrast and saturation in controlled lighting conditions, while nano-texture glass employs microscopic etching to scatter ambient light without diffusing the underlying image. The latter proves particularly valuable in mixed-lighting spaces where reflections would otherwise compromise color judgment. Both options maintain the P3 wide color gamut that professional colorists require for HDR content creation.
Extreme Dynamic Range, the XDR designation, refers to the display's ability to sustain 1,000 nits across the entire screen or reach 1,600 nits for specular highlights. This performance enables accurate preview of HDR content destined for theatrical release or streaming platforms with expanded luminance capability. Calibration precision meets the demands of post-production facilities that previously relied on dedicated broadcast monitors costing significantly more. For photographers, filmmakers, and designers whose work depends on accurate color reproduction, this display provides the visual foundation for confident creative decisions.
