The Seaboard M distills ROLI's expressive instrument philosophy into a genuinely portable package. With 24 keywaves arranged across a compact chassis, this MPE controller fits comfortably in a bag alongside a laptop, yet delivers the full range of gestural expression that defines the Seaboard family. The playing surface uses the same soft, resilient silicone that has become ROLI's signature, tuned to respond across five axes of touch for nuanced control over pitch, timbre, pressure, and release.
Wireless connectivity via Bluetooth removes cable clutter from performance setups, while USB-C provides a reliable wired option when latency demands the tightest possible response. The internal battery sustains approximately ten hours of continuous play, making it practical to compose on trains, sketch melodies in parks, or perform at venues without convenient power access. Despite its reduced footprint, the instrument feels purposeful rather than compromised.
The silicone keywave material rewards exploration. Vibrato emerges naturally from side-to-side finger motion. Slides between notes happen without discrete steps.
